Harry Grahamway

Dear Shrek,

I have been at my latest club for a few seasons now, but when I first joned, some of the members of the club assumed that I was a swing bowler, even though I have never been a swing bowler before. I have played racket sports at other clubs, but I am not sure why that would make people assume that my bowling is of the swing variety. The reasons for this assumption has been bugging me for some time. Can you help?

Regards

Harry Grahamway

Ah Harry, I have seen this happen before. You need to think back. When you first joined the club in question, were you frequenting with people off the field who could also have been perceived as swing bowlers? Although not swing bowlers, their behaviour could make people presume otherwise. As long as you have put people straight there should no longer be any confusion. This is something you have to be clear on, as swing bowlers are a unique breed. They can even be known to hold their own parties exclusively for bowlers of this type. Be cautious my friend.

Regards

Shrek
