Bapchild 1st XI v Blackheath

On a day threatens by rain the child set off on the long trek to Blackheath. After another toss won Blackheath were inserted to bat on a sporting wicket.

Ward and Hunt took the new ball and despite their efforts it was clear the green strip would favour the slower bowlers. League leading wicket taker Matt Roche started his spell and immediately had the batsman in trouble. With Hampton away Larking was the other option. On a condusive wicket the two slow bowlers put together strings of maidens with Roche taking wickets at regular intervals. Both bowlers worked their way through their alotted overs for just 50 runs combined. Blackheath managed their way through to 161 for 6 and probably just edging it at tea.

Bapchild set about the run chase in cavelier fashion with Dale and Bryden hitting boundaries with ease. Lincoln was finally dismissed for a brisk 24 but had set the platform for skipper Fulton to join Dale. The two continued the chase at a good rate and Dale reached a well deserved 50 and continued his rich vain of form. After Ricky finally went for 60, Larking and Cogger supported Fulton and the child eased to a 6 wicket victory against the league leaders.

A good performance and result for Bapchild and a mark of how much we've improved as the seasons gone on. Well done lads.
